Leona Lewis Paid £1 Million for Private Concert

According to The Sun, Leona Lewis was paid £1,000,000 ( $1.4 Mil) for a private concert. The concert was paid for by Phones4U founder John Caudwell  (one of the richest men in Britain) for his daughter's 21st birthday.

It's good to know that some people are not affected by the 'recession' and for 'artists' it seems that these private functions are the way to get paid.

"Ne-Yo tricked me into having an epiphany in public."

That's how Chrisette Michele describes her collaboration with fellow singer-songwriter Ne-Yo while recording her sophomore Def Jam album. The aptly titled "Epiphany" is slated for release May 19.

The rapper / producer / designer who has been a papparazzi favourite in the past couple of weeks will make his first appearence on American Idol on wednesday to perform 'Heartless'. Kelly Clarkson will also be performing this wednesday.

I thought he would be trying to promote some other songs from the album by now, and appearing on Fox - American Idol is kinda going against his stance of not wanting lots of fans / publicity but appearing on the show has benefits for both the show & Kanye!!

Hope Solange will be well recovered from her collapse last night due to dehydration (& maybe NyQuil on a plane). Solange twittered the whole experience and has been released from hospital feeling better and as she put it'

Kanye West sat down with Sway (MTV) to talk about the upcoming 'Swagger' Grammy performance. I like Kanye's humble hype of the upcoming performance and the humor he has about himself ( "I Need a comeback from that Paris Pic"). Mr. West will also be performing with UK newby Estelle.

"Yeah, everybody is gonna be fresh," Kanye promised. "Everybody is gonna be fresh to def. I mean, first of all, other than the fact that you got four — in my opinion — four of the freshest rappers making records right now. Aside from Jeezy, you got four of the freshest people consistently. When you see them, they look nice ... they're super fresh. So, it makes complete sense for us to get up there, do the 'Swagga' record at the Grammys and represent hip-hop. Represent black people, especially, in a really good light.

Etta James has spoken out about her recent onstage comments aimed at Beyonce & Prez Obama, she say's 'I was only trying to get a laugh' to Daily News. She also says that the Seattle crowd kept laughing so she kept on going....so we can all blame Seattle?

If you didn't know already you will know after reading this short interview that Etta was just some what bitter about not being asked to sing the song herself. I may have been too but then again not so much because the artist was chosen first (Beyonce) and the song was chosen by the artist. Etta should look at it as an honor that the song was sung and everyone knows it is her song....it's ok to pass the torch to the younger generation.

This is the new single from Leona Lewis 'I Will Be'.  I'm not sure how this video relates to the song, but i think it's the labels attempts to adding a bit of edginess to her image and making sure she stays 'relevant' to their intended audience (enter Chace Crawford a.k.a Nate from Gossip Girl).
She looks pretty in this video but in a recent interview in a UK magazine of 'President Obama' she said '
'I hate that they call him Black'...???????
I know that she also has a white mother and black father but to 'hate' that 'they' call him black is a little dense to say the least.

Her debut single Hallelujah outsold Leona Lewis' debut and is set to become the best-selling single by a female artist this decade, ousting current record-holder Kylie Minogue who has sold 1.1 million copies of Spinning Around.

Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson are all multitasking for the NAACP Image Awards, earning nominations Wednesday in both music and film categories.

Knowles, Keys and Hudson are competing against one another for outstanding female music artist and for best music video. The three also are nominated for supporting film actress, Keys and Hudson for "The Secret Life of Bees" and Knowles for "Cadillac Records."

Cole’s newest and third album A Different Me lands at no. 3 on this week’s charts, selling 322,000 copies, the best sales week of her career to date. Her 2007 album, Just Like You, also debuted at no. 2, but sold just 281,000 units.

If you didn't know already you will know after reading this short interview that Etta was just some what bitter about not being asked to sing the song herself. I may have been too but then again not so much because the artist was chosen first (Beyonce) and the song was chosen by the artist. Etta should look at it as an honor that the song was sung and everyone knows it is her song....it's ok to pass the torch to the younger generation.

This is the new single from Leona Lewis 'I Will Be'.  I'm not sure how this video relates to the song, but i think it's the labels attempts to adding a bit of edginess to her image and making sure she stays 'relevant' to their intended audience (enter Chace Crawford a.k.a Nate from Gossip Girl).
She looks pretty in this video but in a recent interview in a UK magazine of 'President Obama' she said '
'I hate that they call him Black'...???????
I know that she also has a white mother and black father but to 'hate' that 'they' call him black is a little dense to say the least.

The song that was leaked online featuring Chris Brown 'Bad Girl' is set to be featured on the soundtrack of the new movie 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'. I think it's a version without Chris Brown, but it hasn't been confirmed.

A pair of Beyonce's tickets that have a face value of £49.50 ea ($75) have received bids of upto £350 ($500), whilst online sellers have been finding it hard to push Britney's tickets. Maybe the fact that Briney has so many shows at the O2 may be the problem (she's doing about 6 nights) and its London not Las Vegas.

Despite becoming the first British female solo artist to sell over 1 million singles in the UK, Alexandra Burke is only earning £250 a night for live appearances according to the Daily Mail.

Her debut single Hallelujah outsold Leona Lewis' debut and is set to become the best-selling single by a female artist this decade, ousting current record-holder Kylie Minogue who has sold 1.1 million copies of Spinning Around.

Knowles, Keys and Hudson are competing against one another for outstanding female music artist and for best music video. The three also are nominated for supporting film actress, Keys and Hudson for "The Secret Life of Bees" and Knowles for "Cadillac Records."
